{"id":8308,"date":"2019-12-12T07:07:05","date_gmt":"2019-12-12T06:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.opengis.ch\/?p=8308"},"modified":"2020-04-29T16:03:50","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T14:03:50","slug":"qgis-on-the-road-episode-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.opengis.ch\/it\/2019\/12\/12\/qgis-on-the-road-episode-4\/","title":{"rendered":"QGIS on the Road: Episode IV &#8211; A New Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>This summer we went on tour with what turned out to be an extremely popular event:  <\/strong><em><strong>QGIS on the Road<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Telling the most remarkable story of Maya the beekeeper building her honey business and fighting against seemingly hopeless challenges with the help of QGIS functionality you probably never heard of.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A new hope<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>In the last episode, Maya minimized the damage the destructor made to her bees, using complex<em> forms and widgets<\/em>, the advanced functionalities of the <em>attribute table<\/em>,<em> live layers<\/em> and even <em><a href=\"https:\/\/qfield.org\/\">QField<\/a><\/em> for mobile data collection.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In case you missed it, watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opengis.ch\/2019\/12\/10\/qgis-on-the-road-episode-3\">Episode III: <strong>Attack of the Destructor<\/strong><\/a> or even better, follow us on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/opengisch\">Twitter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/opengisch\">LinkedIn<\/a> for all updates.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Maya is coming back with a lot of new ideas, demanding more QGIS power. Since she has received plenty of great feedback on honey from hives located at certain spots, she wants to have full overview over the whole area now. First, she uses <em>relations<\/em> to link information on different layers, then she creates animated charts on feature forms with the <em>QML widget<\/em> and &#8211; to cover the entire area &#8211; she uses the<em> advanced digitizing<\/em> <em>tool<\/em> to create precise geometries using angles and distances based on a paper sketch.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And Action!<\/h3>\n\n\n<div style=\"padding:56.25% 0 0 0;position:relative;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/showcase\/6599769\/embed\" allowfullscreen=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>We have taken care to create subtitles for all the videos so you can comfortably read Maya&#8217;s story in your favourite language.
